Program Evaluation

There are many steps involved in planning, designing, and implementing a high-quality evaluation. TPEG has the expertise to work with you at each step and help you make the most of the evaluation process and findings. Here are some of the ways that we can help.

• Framing the evaluation

  We help you clarify what you hope to accomplish and what strategies will help you achieve your goals. We work directly with you on the evaluation design to produce meaningful and useful information aligned with program goals.

• Finding the evidence

  We are adept at designing, adapting, and using a variety of data collection tools and strategies—both quantitative and qualitative. We develop surveys and questionnaires, and protocols for interviews, focus groups, observations, and case studies. We collect and report these data in ways that assure confidentiality.

• Making sense of the evidence

  We analyze and synthesize evaluation data so that you can easily use the information for program planning, decision making, and reporting to funders. Our evaluations include on-going feedback over the course of a project, as well as summative information on overall program effectiveness. We identify program strengths to build on, and areas that could warrant further attention. Our facilitated discussions of evaluation results help you identify ways to improve programs.

Technical Assistance

TPEG offers training and technical assistance uniquely tailored to your needs. Workshops cover basic evaluation concepts—goals, objectives, indicators, and outcomes—and more advanced topics such as logic modeling and quantitative and qualitative data analysis. We also can provide on-going support when you put these concepts into action.

Report Writing

Making evaluation data useful to stakeholders, funders, and others often requires a polished report. TPEG can effectively synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into a product that conveys a message about the quality and success of your programs. We present and interpret results to deliver a clear message about program impact. Typically, we create reports from data collected by TPEG as part of an evaluation, but we also analyze and report findings for clients who have collected data but lack the time or personnel to synthesize and report these data themselves.

Proposal Development

A well-designed evaluation plan can strengthen your proposal. TPEG helps develop your proposals by keeping the focus squarely on program goals and strategies, and the ways that the evaluation can produce evidence of impact for funders and other stakeholders. From these discussions, we produce written evaluation plans you can incorporate into your proposals.
